What if it isn’t you. What if the feeling you have, that you are somehow not right for the world, that you can’t adapt to it, that you can’t understand it, what if it isn’t you.
When you look around and see people doing whatever they are doing, seemingly having everything under control; what if they feel it too.
What if everyone is pretending. Thinking that, they are the only ones who feel wrong. Thinking that, they are the only ones who don’t get it.
What if we’re all conforming to nothing.
If everyone is trying to be what everyone wants everyone else to be, what are you left with?
Nothing.
Nothing real at least. Just endless mirrors reflecting themselves back at each other.
What if you are right, and the world is wrong?
What if you are spending 90% of your energy trying to conform to something that you can’t conform to.
What if you started to say what you think and do what you want, how much more energy would you have?
You were raised as a kid and taught how to conform, how to be the way you ought to be, how to not cause problems.
So rarely were you taught to experience things for yourself. To come up with your own judgments, thoughts, and opinions. You were punished for pointing out the obvious hypocrisies in the world, and you retreated to recycling the opinions of others.
So, what if to change the world, you just need to be yourself. To smash the mirrors you’ve hidden behind. To start telling people what you think, and not what you think they want to hear. To point out uncomfortable truths, and try to see things as they truly are.
What if you stopped conforming right now?
