Over the past two years, I’ve regularly used Airbnb to find places to stay while traveling. It is a great solution in the short term–you get a place to stay that is usually 2X or more value for your money as a hotel and often you get to meet interesting people.
But something that is easy to overlook is the long-term value of using Airbnb. Collecting positive reviews on your Airbnb profile as you stay with new hosts. Almost every place you stay will give you a review and that becomes a testimate to who you are as a houseguest.
Now, when Amanda and I go to rent longer-term apartments, we send along our Airbnb profiles with our application. Our potential landlords don’t need to rely on the word of one of our past landlords, he or she can see the dozens of positive reviews from people who have had us in their homes.
The review system serves a valuable purpose on Airbnb, but accumulating positive and verified reviews on the app also adds a lot of value to your life of the app.
