Amanda and I are heading back to Canada on Tuesday, and so we spent this weekend getting nostalgic about our favorite things in Mexico City.
One of the things I enjoyed most about being here was getting to go to great concerts. Mexico City is like New York for Latin America, so all the biggest Latin musicians come through and we were lucky to be able to go to 7 different concerts while we were here.
My two big takeaways from all the concert-going are:
- Spanish/Latin Music is awesome. Not only is it a great way to learn the language, but it is just objectively better than popular English music. If you want to start listening to Spanish music, check out my Spotify playlist of my favorite songs.
- Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City is an incredible concert venue. 11,000 people packed into an auditorium with great sound and views from all over. If you’re traveling through Mexico City, I highly recommend checking out Ticketmaster to see if there are shows on while you are here.
They were all awesome, but some more than others, so here is how I would rank them:
1) J Balvin (October) – Auditorio Nacional
2) J Balvin (May) – Arena Cuidad de Mexico
3) Carlos Vives – Auditorio Nacional
4) Maluma – Arena Cuidad de Mexico
5) Flow Fest – Foro Sol
Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, Ozuna, and a bunch of others all at the same concert.
6) Natalia Lafourcade – Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral
7) Bad Bunny – Auditorio Nacional
