There are two distinct parts to blogging, coming up with ideas and writing out ideas.
The second part, writing out ideas, can be done at almost any time of the day (at least for me). If I’m tired I may have a few more typos, but I can reliably take the framework for a blog post and flesh it out, even if it is late at night.
What is more challenging late at night is actually coming up with ideas in the first place and deciding on one idea to write about. This is where frustration, anxiety, and resistance show up and make daily blogging a bigger, less enjoyable challenge.
The easiest way to defeat this type of resistance is to be disciplined in the practice of creating and storing ideas. Committing yourself to writing out blog post ideas earlier in the day–when you have more energy–and keeping them somewhere where they are easy to access when you need them.
The small investment of a few minutes to capture blog post ideas in the morning leads to better blog content, and just as importantly, it makes late night blogging a much more enjoyable activity.
