I recently fell down the rabbit hole of Dave Portnoy’s one bite pizza reviews on Youtube.
For over a year, Dave has gone to a different NYC pizza place for lunch and recorded a quick video review. It is a very simple concept, but a great example of how creating content around an interest can lead to incredible results.
One and a half years in, he’s had A-list stars join him:
And been featured on late night TV:
And gone from a guy who likes pizza to being an authority on NYC pizza that is actively recruited to give reviews and receives free pizza from many places he goes.
As president of Barstool Sports, he obviously had the advantage of a bigger platform from the start, but his pizza reviews have built up an audience of their own. His early videos only have a couple thousand views
All because he started creating daily content about an interest of his. It is a great example of how curiosity plus consistency create unforeseen opportunities.
