So much of what you do in life is hard to appreciate in the moment. Lot’s of activities that provide the greatest satisfaction in the future, don’t actually feel that good in the present.
But when we make decisions about what to do, we mostly base it on what will make us feel good in the short-term.
We seek enjoyment for our present selves, instead of our future selves. When you decide on how to invest your time and money, you should think about both.
You should fill up your memory bank with challenges, trips, adventures, and things you built, not just because of how happy they will make you in the moment, but because you will savor them in the future as you look back on what you’ve accomplished.
