I’ve been regularly meditating for the past four years. It’s been one of the most beneficial activities I’ve ever adopted, giving a sense of space and increasing peace in my life.
Over that time I’ve used a variety of different tools/apps/and guided meditations, but here are the four that I continue coming back to:
Headspace
Headspace has a ton of guided meditations split up in easy to consume packs with daily meditations. You pick one focus, like stress, anxiety, focus and have 10 to 30 days of meditations to go through on the topic. It makes it easy to learn the basics of and get into the habit of meditation.
Brain.fm
Brain.fm uses music at different frequencies to adjust your brainwaves. I’m not certain of the science behind it, but whether it is legit or placebo I’ve noticed an effect from using it for focus, relaxation, and meditation. I particularly like the nap and unguided mediation when I need a quick afternoon reset.
Alan Watts Guided Mediation
This guided meditation with music by Alan Watts is my go to for a meditation when I’m tired of using Headspace. Listening to the same meditation over and over again gets old, but I usually use this meditation at least a few times a month.
Wim Hof Breathing
Wim Hof has blown up in popularity over the past three years and from experimenting with some of his breathing exercises I can understand why. There is very little that I’ve found to help reset like these breathing exercises. I find it especially helpful for grounding myself and relaxing after travel days spent in planes and airports.
