As an entrepreneur, you rely on your community for the ongoing health of your business and so, you have a greater incentive to be a better part of that community. If you are liked you prosper, if you are disliked, you struggle.
When you work for the government in a unionized position, it doesn’t matter what your neighbors think of you. You can be a gigantic dick and bear no economic cost because of your protected position. There are of course good reasons to still be an integrated member of your community, but the incentives aren’t even close to what they are as an entrepreneur.
A community with more entrepreneurs is not only a more financially prosperous place, it is a more socially prosperous place because of the incentives to contribute that community members have.
