Lots of people quit their jobs when they feel they aren’t getting what they deserve. They create a story about how they are not being appreciated or how their situation will never change in the current environment. They leave and go elsewhere because it is easier to deal with the costs of switching a job than face the hard truth that they aren’t earning opportunities where they currently are.
Instead of checking their entitlement, they bounce from opportunity to opportunity always expecting the next one to give them “what they deserve,” never realizing that they will only get the opportunities they want by accepting that they get what they deserve.
No one owes you promotions, raises, or special acknowledgment. If those things are important to you, you need to earn them. If you are not earning them, damning others and bouncing to a new opportunity may feel good in the short term, but will bring nothing but dissatisfaction in the long-term.
