No matter your situation, you will always have the agency to make personal progress. You can choose a path towards improving, becoming a better person, a better father, or a better member of your community. You can choose to learn new skills, make new connections, or teach someone something that you know.
Many people want you to believe that progress is entirely external to you, that progress happens because of political change, technological innovation, or some other force that you cannot control. They want you to believe that if external progress is not happening, then you should be upset, depressed, or angry and that the remedy is to go out to the streets and demand that someone does something.
The only vision of progress that truly matters in our lives is not massive societal change, but simple daily action and progress towards a better version of yourself. Reforming your mind to not worry about if the world is getting easier or harder to live in, but instead on becoming a version of yourself better able to thrive no matter the circumstances.
