We live in a world where almost everyone is losing trust in large institutions.
Whether it is companies, governments, political parties, or NGOs, these relics of the past that garnered respect and confidence from previous generations are being consistently revealed as corrupt, bureaucratic, and malicious.
These massive institutions are a relatively new feature of society. Other than the church, there was nothing even remotely close to what Apple, Amazon, the European Union bureaucracy, the WHO, or thousands of other gigantic institutions.
As these organizations grew to a national and global scale, they hollowed out the local institutions of the past. We lost our main street business, but also local charities, volunteer organizations, clubs, and churches.
We are now living through a time when we can see clearly that our communities still need trustworthy institutions, and there is a massive opportunity for those who take action to create them.
