Of the things, you invest your time in today what will still be valuable to you in 50 years?
It is easy to get caught up in things that aren’t going to matter in the long term. If you watch TV, if you talk to friends, if you absorb the culture, you will be focused on fighting to get shit that you won’t care about at all in 5 years.
Taking a flashy vacation, getting a restaurant reservation, buying a new car, impressing your friends. Will any of it matter in 5 years, let alone 50?
What matters in the long term is usually the opposite of what matters today, it’s probably not cool, and usually, it’s not even expensive.
Its shared experience with family and great friends, health, mobility, religion, and acting with moral clarity. Those are the things that will be important to us in 50 years.
So what if you start treating those as the most important things to you today? Where could you be in 50 years if you invested in that instead of in social media, cars, or fancy restaurants?
